Gan James 'The Whistle' Colley
The wife assures me it was pretty cold out there today so many thanks to those parents who braved the elements to support D10 this morning…..I, however, was fortunate not feel the cold as I ran up and down the pitch trying to follow a pretty breathless game. I was impressed with Llantwit who brought a good deal of physicality and direct running and mixed that up with some expansive running rugby. Clwb D10 were not put off though, defence was strong, counter-attacking was smooth and the coaches were particularly pleased with our ball retention throughout.
In our post-match debrief the coaches talked about the general increase in standards we are seeing, frankly, it’s making Seren Y Gem extremely difficult to call. While there were many candidates put forward, this week, it’s Llongyfarchiadu to Joseph, Caleb and Pat.
One thing that stood out for me, well several things actually, were the ‘champagne moments’ that are starting to appear, a well-timed pass putting a teammate into space or a jackal and break is a joy to behold at any level and it’s a credit to D10 that they’re making those decisions at the right time and making them count.
So again, the rugby was a joy to behold but perhaps the heroes today were D8 coaching team and the Iau committee for hot dogs and hot jerseys respectively. I’m pretty sure you made an awful lot of kids very happy today, diolch yn fawr.
..........
Mae’r wraig yn fy sicrhau mai digon oer oedd hi’r bore ‘ma felly diolch yn fawr iawn i bawb a fentrodd mas i gefnogi’r Dan 10. Ro’n i’n ddigon ffodus i beidio teimlo’r oerfel serch hynny wrth rhedeg lan a lawr y cae yn ceisio cadw lan â gêm ddi-stop. Fe greodd Llanilltud Fawr argraff dda arna’i gyda chymysgedd o chwarae corfforol, rhedeg pwrpasol a rygbi agored. Llwyddodd Clwb i ymdopi gyda’r gwrthwynebwyr - roedd yr amddiffyn yn gryf, y gwrthymosod yn llyfn a’r hyfforddwyr yn arbennig o bles gyda’n gallu ni i gadw meddiant.
Yn ein sgwrs wedi’r gêm, fe siaradodd yr hyfforddwyr am y codi safonau cyffredinol sy’n gwneud Sêr y Gêm yn anodd iawn i’w dewis. Roedd nifer fawr o enwebiadau heddiw ond Joseph, Caleb a Patrick ddaeth i’r brig. Llongyfarchiadau.
Un peth sy’n sefyll mas i mi, wel nifer o bethau mewn gwirionedd, yw’r ‘eiliadau champagne’ sy’n dechrau digwydd - mae pas wedi ei hamseru yn berffaith i roi cyd-chwaraewr mewn gwagle, neu bêl wedi’ dwyn sy'n arwain at wrthymosodiad i’w gwerthfawrogi ar unrhyw lefel, ac mae’r Dan 10 yn haeddu clod am wneud y penderfyniadau cywir ar yr adegau cywir.
Felly unwaith eto mi roedd y rygbi i’w fwynhau yn aruthrol, ond efallai mae’r arwyr heddi oedd tîm hyfforddi y Dan 8 a phwyllgor yr Adran Iau am y cwn poeth a’r crysau newydd. Dwi’n siwr i chi wneud nifer fawr o blant yn hapus iawn. Diolch yn fawr.
Ymlaen!
